Outdoor Public Skating - Rinks are now open

The Warsinski Chalet, located at Morehouse Park, is a large warming house complete with skate and cross country ski rentals and food concessions.  The skate rental fee is $6 for two hours.  The chalet is located at the west end of School Street. Chalet hours:

  • Sundays: 12:00 - 9:30pm
  • Saturdays, Holidays & School Vacation Days: 11:00am - 9:30pm
  • Monday - Friday: 3:00 - 9:00pm 

Family bonfires are held Saturday evenings at 5:30pm.  Schedule is subject to change due to weather and ice conditions. 

Brooktree Golf Course

Closed for the season.  Thank you for choosing Brooktree and supporting Master's...we'll see you in the spring of 2018!

Special Events     

Polar Plunge: January 27, Lake Kohlmier - This frosty fundraiser for MN Special Olympics brings profits in to fund its programs for athletes around the state.  In 2018, we’ll turn up the fun with additional outdoor activities, and concessions will be available to warm up the crowd and raise funds for Therapeutic Recreation.  Activities will begin at 11:00am.

Owatonna Winter Weekend Out: January 26-28 - We’ve got a fun-filled, snow fun, weekend planned!  Take a look at the weekend’s activities and like our page on Facebook to stay updated on the weekend’s activities.  Click here for flyer.

Friday, January 26 activities include:

Sledding and Movie at West Hills - 5:00pm – Sledding on the Hill - decorate your sled with lights and glow sticks!  6:00pm – Movie, Home Alone, at SeniorPlace.  FREE hot chocolate while you watch the movie.  Some concessions will be available for purchase. All kids 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Click here for flyer.

Saturday, January 27 activities include:

Battleship - Jr. High Pool, 10:00am-1:00pm.  Who will be the last one floating? Four person teams use buckets and other tools to "attack" other canoes with water until the competing team's canoe is sunk and/or they tip over. The last canoe floating is the winning team of that heat. To move their canoe, teams must use their hands, buckets, or other water tools. Up to 5 canoes will be in the pool at once. Teams will compete in heats and the winning one or two teams per heat will advance.  *This is a free event but advanced registration is required.

Rock on Ice - Morehouse Park, 6:00-8:00pm.  Music, lights, fun...we’ll be Rockin on Ice!  Bring the whole family down, warm up by the bonfire and enjoy a night skating to the music!  Click here for flyer.

Ice Bocce Ball - Morehouse Park, 6:00-8:00pm.  Get Your Roll On, It’s Bocce Time!  Get your team of two to four together and join us for Bocce on ice! Discover the sport you can enjoy year round! This FREE event is open to all who want to experience this game on ice.  Click here for flyer.

Sunday, January 28 activities include:

Family Ice Fishing at Lake Kohlmier - 2:30 – 4:30pm

Join us on Lake Kohlmier for an afternoon of ice fishing. Limited equipment and bait will be provided -- holes will be pre-drilled for fishing. Prizes for kids 15 & under who catch the top 3 longest fish. This is a FREE event for everyone to attend. Look for more information to come.  Click here for flyer.

Winterfest at Brooktree & Master’s Bar & Grille: Saturday, February 10th - Dress for the weather and join other crazy Minnesotans for our first Winterfest!  It’s time for the grown-ups to have fun!  We’ll have the fire pit and a few bonfires on the patio.  We’ll have Bean Bag and Kubb Tournaments, Hammerschlagen contests and more.  If you’re not the competitive type, bring your skis or Fat Tire bike and hit the trails!  To help you keep warm, inside, Master’s is hosting beer and wine tasting, serving food and will have full beverage service.  Keep an eye on the Brooktree/Master’s Facebook page and the Park & Rec website for more information as the event gets closer!

Youth Registration

Registration will begin February 22 for the following:

  • Soccer
  • Spring Swimming Lessons
  • Youth Lacrosse
  • Little League Baseball*
  • Girls Fastpitch*
  • T-Ball
  • Squirt Ball

Register online here, in person at the Parks & Recreation office or call 507-444-4321  

*Baseball and softball registrants are encouraged to register in person to try on uniforms. Register at the Park & Rec Office Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm or at Registration Night at SeniorPlace, February 26 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. 

Park Pavilion Rentals

Pavilion Rentals are available one year in advance.  Call the Parks and Recreation office at 444-4321 or stop by our office to make a reservation. Payment is due at the time of the reservation.
