City of Owatonna Engineering

Construction has begun and various projects can be seen around The City of Owatonna. Please slow down and use caution when approaching a construction zone.

We thank you for your patience as these projects are completed.

2020 Construction Projects:

Cardinal Drive SE Storm Sewer: Bixby Road has been paved, and should be open for traffic by Friday (August 7th) afternoon. The disturbed ditches and other topsoil has been seeded. The project is all but completed at this point.

CIPPS: The contractor has lined another week’s worth of sewer pipes. They are about 90% completed. Expect some repair work on Main St. between Elm Ave and Cedar Ave in the near future (probably the Week of August 10th).

18th Street SW:  Preparation for Concrete Paving began this week. Paving will begin next Thursday and Friday and is expected to be completed August 18th. Access to a temporary driveway for Kibble is located at 39th Ave & 18th St SW.

Street & Utility: Shady Avenue & Greenhaven Lane have received their 1st lifts of pavement this week. Expect the manholes to be placed just prior to the bituminous pavers to come back for the 2nd (final) paving. Cherry Street is prepped for pavement, which is scheduled for Tuesday August 11th.

Misc. Repairs: Miscellaneous storm sewer, catch basin and pot hole repair is continuing to take place.

Public Works
Street Department: The Street Department is busy working their way around town to fill pot holes and perform other miscellaneous street maintenance. The tree crew is working on tree trimming and addressing concerns as they are received.
