City of Owatonna Engineering

Construction has begun and various projects can be seen around The City of Owatonna. Please slow down and use caution when approaching a construction zone.

We thank you for your patience as these projects are completed.

2020 Construction Projects:

Street & Utility: Manholes on Shady Avenue & Greenhaven Lane have been set to grade and are ready bituminous pavers to come back for the 2nd (final) paving. Cherry Street’s manholes should be set early next week.

Cardinal Drive SE Storm Sewer:
This project is nearing completion.

CIPPS: The contractor has lined another week’s worth of sewer pipes. They are about 95% completed. The repair work on Main St. between Elm Ave and Cedar Ave has been completed and re-paved. Expect the construction area to be up through the weekend and removed on Monday. (August 17th) The contractor should return in a few weeks to complete the remaining sewer pipes.

Transportation Plan: Presentations of the Transportation Plan will be available August 24th to September 4th online.  After the presentation, we will be holding virtual office hours to answer questions and take public input.

2021 Projects: Planning is underway for the improvements planned for 2021.

Public Works
WWTP Expansion: Information has been submitted to the MPCA for the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) along with the Facility Plan.  Once approved, the discharge permit can be issued and the City can begin working on expansion plans.
