West Hills Social Commons:

West Hills Social Commons is now open! We have limited the hours we are open, our current hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm. With the limited hours we are also limiting the programs we are offering. Currently we are offering various dice games, floor exercise, bingo, billiards, book club and sewing. AARP tax assistance will not be providing in-person tax appointments this year. Instead they will be providing tax assistance virtually. For more information please go to or call 507-218-2065

AARP safe driving classes are currently on hold. Please watch the website, newsletter and Facebook page for when those will be offered again.

Therapeutic Recreation
All Therapeutic Recreation programs are being done virtually! Our next virtual program will be Tuesday February 16. We will be playing Pokeno, pokeno is a game that is similar to Bingo but you play with playing cards. For more information and to sign up please contact Dani Bakken at 507-774-7110 or

Therapeutic Recreation bowling league is currently on hold. Please check back for when that will start up again.

Spring Registration 1 – February 22 to March 4

  • Little League Baseball* - 2nd—5th grades. Pitching machine used for younger leagues, player pitch for older leagues. Two evenings per week early June through July.
  • Mini/Junior Crush Softball - Kindergarten (if played T-Ball)—4th grades. A skill-based, developmental fastpitch program. Two evenings per week June through July.
  • Tackle Football - 3rd—6th grades. Practices held weekdays beginning April 12, games held on weekends through early May.

*Baseball uniforms will be available at the Park & Rec office 2/22—3/4 for sizing

Spring Registration 2 – March 10 to March 18

  • Soccer - Boys and girls age 5 (by August 31) through 6th grade. Practices weekday evenings and games Saturdays/Sundays late April through early June.
  • Swimming Lessons - American Red Cross Learn to Swim Programs are held at the Owatonna Middle School and West Hills Pools.

Lifeguard Training –Registration Now Open
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatics emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Register by calling the Owatonna Parks and Recreation Office 507-444-4321 or by registering online using the Owatonna Parks and Rec registration website.

Option 1: February 23-March 2 (23rd 6:45pm-9:30pm, 27th 8:00am-1:00pm, 28th 8:00am-3:00pm, 2nd 6:45pm-9:30pm)

Option 2: March 22nd-26th (All days 9:00am-1:00pm)

Option 3: April 24-27 (24th 8:00am-3:30pm, 25th 8:00am-3:30pm, 27th 7:00pm-9:30pm)

Option 4: May 8-11 (8th 8:00am-3:30pm, 9th 8:00am-3:30pm, 11th 7:00pm-9:30pm)

Option 5: June 14th-18th (All days 8:00am-1:00pm)
