City of Owatonna Engineering

Construction has begun and various projects can be seen around The City of Owatonna. Please slow down and use caution when approaching a construction zone.

We thank you for your patience as these projects are completed.

2021 Construction Projects:
2021 Project Location Map

2021 Bridge Street: Work this week resumed on Phase 1 with some cleanup related to last week’s rain followed by the delivery of the large-diameter storm sewer pipe which is currently being installed near the west end of the project. These reinforced concrete pipes will convey storm water from the industrial park and surrounding areas under West Bridge Street to the south pond and eventually to the Straight River. Work next week will include continued storm pipe installation followed by the hauling of additional road base material. Once the road base is placed and trimmed to the appropriate elevation, concrete paving will commence. The paving is anticipated to take place in approximately two weeks and will then need at least two weeks to cure and harden before traffic can drive on it.

The City Council awarded the construction contract to JJD Companies of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The project is moving forward and construction is predicted to begin in the next couple of weeks. A construction schedule will soon be provided by the contractor. Morgan Hill (ISG) will be continuing to contact individual properties to confirm information on water service and vaults. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 3rd. A video of the ceremony is available on The Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page
